The chase was finished off by Rahul Tewatia who scored 5 not-out runs and kept his cool to knock a four above the short-leg fielder. This allowed them to finish with a ball remaining.

Punjab Kings Inning

Punjab was given the chance to bat first after the toss of the coin, but they quickly lost Prabhsimran Singh as his effort to flick off the length delivery bowled by Mohammed Shami hit through to Rashid Khan at deep midwicket. This resulted in Punjab losing Prabhsimran Singh off the very first ball of the over.

The game ended without Prabhsimran scoring any points.

Short came in at number 3, and right away he struck a boundary by hitting the delivery past point. This got him off to a good start. The following delivery was short in length, and on it, Short hit the veteran India seamer for another boundary by driving it over the square leg zone.

Shikhar Dhawan, who has been in excellent form recently, greeted the new ball that Shami and Joshua Little had just bowled by hitting a pair of boundaries. Dhawan played a wonderful stroke in the next ball, gliding the ball through mid-off in what turned out to be a high-class cover stroke. In contrast, the previous one was thrown over the cover.

Short, who is from Australia and plays in the Big Bash League for the Adelaide Strikers  there, faced Shami and smashed him for consecutive fours, including a powerful boundary past mid-off. Short is known for his success when playing for the Adelaide Strikers.

However, right at the moment when it looked like Punjab was about to put the Titans in a difficult position, Little provided his team with a significant breakthrough by dismissing the threatening Dhawan on 8 scores. Dhawan came across the track to tackle the lofted ball, but he ended up surrendering his catch to Alzarri Joseph instead.

When Punjab’s score was 55 for 3 in the 7th over, the experienced Rashid with 1/26 in his 4 overs foxed a settled Short using a googly. This was a big dismissal for the Titans, as it occurred when Punjab’s score was reading.

After hitting Joseph for an abundance of fours and a monster six, Short had finally settled down and was playing well, but he appeared to be completely bewildered when Rashid chose to field the wrongful.

The departure of Short made things more difficult for Punjab, and things got even more difficult when Jitesh Sharma, who had scored 25 runs off 23 deliveries, got sent back by Mohit. This was made possible by Wriddhiman’s deft work beyond the wickets.

Sam Curran scored 22 runs and hit an essential six; a big maximum through deep midwicket after the great leggy Rashid missed his lenTitansh. This six was a highest over deep mid-wicket

Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who was batting for Sri Lanka, scored 20 runs off 26 balls when Joseph ran him out in the middle. His innings were not convincing.

After smashing the initial ball he met for a maximum over beyond midwicket, Shahrukh Khan proceeded to collect another maximum off Mohammad Shami’s bowling.

Gujarat Titans Inning

Gill, who played a controlled knock during his 49-ball innings and hit a Maximum and 7 fours, contributed to the Titans by preserving one end of their innings.

The right-handed batter gave the Titans an excellent start as they chased a target of 154 runs that was below par. Together with Wriddhiman Saha who made 30 runs off just 19 deliveries, the two of them contributed 48 runs in only 4.4 overs. After Kagiso Rabada took his 100th wicket in the Indian Premier League in the 5th over, Gill and Sai Sudharsan who made 19 runs put up a 41-run partnership to keep their team’s run chase on track.

Punjab received a glimpse of hope when Harpreet Brar dismissed Titans captain Hardik Pandya who made 8 runs in the fifteenth over, but Gill remained tall to lead his team to victory and bring them home.

Mohit made a successful return to the Indian Premier League with statistics of 2/18 for the holders, the Titans, as they limited Punjab to 153 for 8.

Mohit, who was participating in his 1st game in IPL since 2020, had a great performance in the penultimate over, allowing as few as six runs to score against him.

Four days following suffering a devastating defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders, Gill carried the way with his excellent fifty when it came time for his team to bat.

Mohit, who has previously served his side as the net fast bowler and has also competed for India in international competitions such as the World Cup, was able to effectively mix his pace and vary the lengths of his bowling over the course of his session.

Since Hardik was run out with the team still 48 runs short of their 3rd win in 34 balls, it was highly important for the Titans that Gill fought on till the very end of the game. This was especially true since the Titans lost Hardik earlier in the game.

Matthew Short made the most runs for Punjab with 36 off of 24 balls, but Masood Shahrukh Khan’s 22 off of just nine balls was the one who got the team over the 150-point mark.

The Titans got off to a flying start and scored 56 runs in the 6 powerplay overs, with Gill going absolutely bonkers.

The South African speedster reached the milestone in just 64 games, which is six fewer matches than it took Lasith Malinga’s 70 games to accomplish.
