Saim Ayub PSL Career

Saim Ayub is a Pakistani cricketer who came into this world on 24th May 2002 in Karachi. He now competes for the national team for cricket of Pakistan as well as in domestic cricket competitions.

Saim made his first appearance in a Twenty20 match for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League in 2021 in February of that year.

In the Pakistan Cup of 2021–22, which took place in March of 2022, he made his debut for Sindh playing in List A.

In the 2022/23 season of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which took place in 2022 September, he made his debut in the first-class competition for Sindh.

Saim Ayub was among the 3 young players chosen to be selected for the Pakistani team for the 2nd Test contest in the series against New Zealand in Karachi in December 2022. The other two young players were the fast bowler Ihsanullah along with the batsman Haseebullah Khan. The inclusion of these three players allowed them to gain some international experience and observe the atmosphere of the changing room.

In March of 2023, he was included in the International (T20I) squad of Twenty20 that Pakistan would field against Afghanistan. On 24th March 2023, he played in his first Twenty20 International, which was the first match of the series.

Saim Ayub PSL Career

Saim Ayub started his PSL career in 2021 when he represented Quetta Gladiators. But he could not prove himself as a good player so he could not play the next season that was held in 2022.

In the last season of the Pakistan Super League, Saim Ayub represented Peshawar Zalmi which was held in March 2023. He is known as a hard-hitting opener who plays the ball in all directions without any hesitation.

As a result of his poor performance for the Quetta Gladiators in 2021, he was not able to become an established part of the XI that played and was subsequently cut from the team for the following season in 2022.

In Pakistan Super League edition 8 held in March 2023, Saim Ayub represented Peshawar Zalmi in which he proved himself as a hard hitter opening batsman. He played some match-winning knocks for Peshawar Zalmi.

Iftikhar Ahmed is playing Twenty20 cricket for Pakistan. Recently he performed some good innings against New Zealand.

Since he is playing in Pakistan Super League he appeared in 19 matches of the tournament. He scored 455 runs during his 19 innings appearances. His average with the bat is 23.94 which is considered good in T20 cricket.

Saim Ayub is a good striker of the ball and can play throughout the ground and his strike rate is 146.30.

Saim Ayub smoked 50 boundaries and 20 maximums throughout his career in PSL so far and made 5 half-centuries.

Saim Ayub in PSL 8 (2023)

In February of 2023, while he was in action for Peshawar Zalmi in the 2023 Pakistan Super League, he hit his first PSL half-century off just 33 balls. As a result, observers began to compare him to Saeed Anwar.

Together with Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi’s Saim Ayub has been putting up consistent run totals throughout the PSL 2023 edition. This has helped the team’s overall success.

Saim scored 74 runs off 34 balls and contributed to Peshawar Zalmi’s total of 240/2 in 20 overs during match 25 of the PSL 2023 edition, which was played between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. He scored 58 runs off 33 balls in game 27 of the PSL 2023 tournament. His performance was outstanding.

At the end of PSL 8 Saim Ayub scored 341 runs with an average of 28.41 and his strike rate was 165.53. He was in the top 10 most runs getter in PSL 8.
