With the support of Olympic gold medalist Zhu, the Hangzhou 2022 shooting range was inaugurated on Monday.
The Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre, which will serve as the shooting site for the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022, is now open for business after successfully clearing a series of tests designed to guarantee that it is prepared for competition.
During the electronic target and live ammo test, as well as the clay target throwing test, the facility met all of the goals that were set for it.
Zhu Qinan, who won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, participated in the Opening Ceremony for its electronic targets, which took place formally in the shooting hall. Zhu Qinan also fired the first shot at the venue.
After that, fifteen athletes from the Shooting and Archery and Cycling Management Centre took part in the evaluations as well.
According to Zhu, “the electronic target system is the key facility in the shooting venue,” and the system that is used in the electronic target system at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre is the most advanced system in the world following the Tokyo Olympic Games.
One real-time display system and two processing systems are included in the electronic target system, which enables accurate calculation of the results.
Zhu has claimed that this will be his first time participating in the event as preparation personnel and that “he intended to create the best arena for the competitors of Asia.” Zhu is scheduled to work at the arena for Hangzhou 2022.
The facility is scheduled to open its doors to the general public in the month of July. Following the conclusion of the Games, it will be converted into a multi-use site that will be used for shooting practice, education for elementary and secondary schools, as well as cultural and athletic events.
The COVID-19 limitations that are still in effect in China caused the postponement of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, which were supposed to take place between September 10 and September 25, but no new dates have been established as of yet.
